Scrabo Health Products was opened on the Ormeau Road Belfast in January 1972 by its founder Dr R.R.T Armstrong. Dr Armstrong was a pioneer in the natural health business and wanted to make health foods widely available to the public. He was a homoeopath and ran a very successful clinic which he conducted from the Belfast store and later at the Newtownards store.
The shop in Newtownards was opened in 1978 and now after 40 years at 19 Regent Street location is closing it's doors on 22nd March 2018. The business is moving to a new location at 13A Frances Sreet where there will be a phone, order and collect service for local customers and will still carry out the mail order and on line business.Two of Dr Armstrong’s daughters still carry on the family tradition. One of his daughters, Jacqui Armstrong, is a qualified homeopath and Homotoxicologist and will be conducting a private clinic at the new premises; she is also available for free advice by phone.
Scrabo health is renowned for its personal service and advice. All staff members are trained to a high standard and are able to give advice on every day health problems. Staff members regularly attend training seminars by well known health food companies such A Vogel and Pharma Nord. This helps to keep the advice fresh and up to date.
